Ok my wonderful and creative friends. I have a challenge for you. I have this little space on my main level ...
...and I really want it to be a living room/dining room. I want to have sofa/chair space for at least 4 people and a table that will fit at least four people.
I just know it can be done. I even have this awesome bay window to work with. Behold:
I've been cramming my brain about this problem since we first looked at this house and I keep changing my mind about what would look the best.
Then today, as I was browsing a furniture website, it hit me. I need other people's opions. I mean, really, the more people working on a problem the better, right? The more inspiration I can get the better. Plus, honestly, some of my friends are some of the most creative people alive.
I even have a little wooden booth that I can work with that looks a little something like this:
Except it's wood color and not white. But, I suppose it could be white. I think the table is also square.

Have you gone to Ikea yet? I'm not coming up with any brilliant ideas off the top of my head, but their whole thing is space saving, and they've got some really cool options (and excellent prices, and delicious cinnamon rolls).
If they don't have anything that works, I'd say a cute round table that seats four in the bay window, and then a sofa against the back wall, and a chair in one of the corners, with maybe a smallish coffee table?
Hmmm...this is a tough room, because you don't want to block the air return or the vent. You could put a couch along the tallest wall, have a little corner table in the corner, and put a chair along the slanted wall with the table in between the two. Asfor dining, I think it would be really nice in the window. I also imagine a window seat there, but since the vent is there, you can't really build it there. Or what if you put a chair at an angle in front of the bay window with a lamp for reading in the evenings or with daylight during the days. Put a couch right next to it on the angled wall or even just place it in the middle of the room to create two spaces. Then put the table and chairs along the tallest wall. I don't know. I want to come see your house! I'm so excited to see it!
When I was growing up my family had a bay window seat with lots of cushions. I used to read there forever, and I remember it could pull open for storage. That could be a pretty and functional addition and I'm sure you could do it yourself with a little wood glue and some fun pillows.

Wow. Long link.
Good luck!
Since I am nearby, maybe I can stop by again and help out! :) Honestly, I Think it would be best to get everything you want and just play with it until you find something that works. When we were at the trailer, I SWEAR I re-organized that house 5 times until I was satisfied. Your perfect room WILL come together, just give it time :)
