Summer Saturdays

Last Saturday I had a perfectly summery Saturday.

First thing in the morning my mom and I hit up some yard sales. You guys, you can find the most amazing things at yard sales! I mean, they're very hit and miss, but when you hit, you can really hit! I got about seven children's books, a side table, two small, skinny book shelfy type things, a really cute yellow shirt, a donut, and some lemonade and I spent less than $10.00.

After the yard sale I was headed home when I saw this adorable street market booth selling fresh veggies right before I turned off of the busy street into my neighborhood. And did I stop? Oh, you know I did. It was just too adorable to pass up. It was so adorable in fact, that while I am generally completely fine with my very outdated flip-phone, I really wished at that moment that I had an iphone because it would have made such a lovely instagram picture. Plus, lately I have this crazy obsession with fresh produce. And, also, they were selling ears of corn and there is no vegetable that I love more than freshly picked corn. Seriously, I would take one of those over almost any dessert. Except maybe home made cookies. Especially if the corn is grilled. Anyway, I'm probably talking to much about corn, so, moving on.

But, speaking of fresh fruits and veggies, I came home to this on the counter:

Our very first Bountiful Basket. Oh fresh fresh produce! Sigh.

I'm really hoping we get our yard in order this year so that I can have a garden next summer!

Ok, so after that my Saturday really wasn't all that summery-ish, except for the fact that we probably ate like three popsicles throughout the day, which totally counts because popsicles are one of very best parts of summer, as I'm sure you're well aware. But the Friday before that we were able to walk around the Riverton Arts Festival Fair for a little while. I hardly every buy anything at such fairs, but I just adore walking around in the atmosphere. Except, I do buy funnel cake. I almost always do, but we were so very full after having dinner with some friends/cousins (which was delicious, by the way, thanks guys!) that it didn't even sound good, which was strangely disappointing. It was one of those head vs stomach sort of things.

And, do you know what else is wonderful about Summer Saturdays? Well, besides all of the bugs, everything is wonderful about them. You get the whole day off to soak up the sun. And the sun stays out nice and long, which is also one of the most lovely things about summer. Oh, and going to the lake...don't even get me started! Going to the lake is just the absolute best! Riding bikes, throwing the frisbee around at the park, so many fairs and festivals to go to, BBQ's to have, so much hiking to be done....

I am just so in love Summertime right now. I want to soak up every single second of it.

And...suddenly I have realized why my house is such a mess right now.

Funnel cake is the best! I never pass up an opportunity to partake of that goodness. :) This post made me so excited for summer. Guess I should probably get out of the house and experience it for myself, eh?
