When I grow up.....

Remember that one time that I posted that incredibly long explaination of what I want to do with my degree/future degrees? I talked about attachment theory, its affects on adopted children, and wanting to educate people about it?
Well, believe it or not, this job actually exists.

When you adopt from LDS family services you have to take series of class before hand. I want to be the person who teaches those classes.

The end.

WATER

I LOVE water.
I can't explain it. I love the way it feels. I love the way it tastes. I love way it smells. I love the way it looks. I love the way it sounds.

Water is my main staple of drink. I drink it pretty much all day, everyday.

It is my favorite place to work out. I was a swimmer and water polo player in high school, and I wouldn't have rather done any other sport. I love that when you're in it, you don't feel yourself sweat. There is no feeling like crashing through the water to get to the polo ball and getting splashed while trying to figure out what to do with it. There is nothing like being as graceful as you can to create an aerodynamic way of passing through while swimming laps.

All of my favorite recreational activities involve water. I love to ski, tube, knee board, and just sitting on a boat while the waves crash against it. There is NOTHING like the feeling of skiing outside of the lake on glassy water. It is an indescribable feeling and cannot be created, described, or compared to anything else.

I think it's the most beautiful thing to watch the sun dance upon the water.
I love the wavy reflections that the water brings of solid objects, making them more maliable looking. It's nature's way of painting. It's a different way of looking at what is real.

The sound of light waves crashing upon the beach is one of the very best sounds in existance.

I love smells associated with water. Sunscreen, fish, chlorine, you name it. (Ok, maybe not swampy stagnant water smell. Stagnant water is my enemy. )

Scenery is always more beautiful when a large body of water is involved.

Harbors are one of my very favorite places to be.

This is not a recent development. My dad has always called me a fish because when I was younger you could not keep me out of the water. I dreamed of being a mermaid through my whole childhood, and I will just say that living under the sea has not yet lost its appeal for me.

Amoung all animals my favorite are those of the sea. They are so unique and beautiful. (My very favorite is the Sea Horse, incase you were curious.) there are animals that look like plants, animals that are ENORMOUS, and incredibly bright colored ones too.

The Ocean (any one will do) and Lake Powell are my two favorite bodies of water. I have often joked that a Piece of my heart dwells in Lake Powell, and my heart is only whole when I am there.

When I'm in or near the water I just feel more whole, more me. It completes me.

WATER IS MY ELEMENT.

I Can Do Anything Good

This got circulated around facebook a while back, but I just wanted to post it on here incase any of you didn't get to see it. This is really a must see video. I think I'm going to take a leaf out of the little one's book and do this every single morning....

Life After Graduation

Has been crazy-busy...but pretty fun, for the most part.

Time for some bullet points? I think so.

  • Good news! The company I was working at part time during school offered me a full time position! I work in an accounting department, so it really doesn't have much to do with my degree, but we thought it through and prayed about it and it is just the best place for me right now. Plus, I love the people I work with, I get paid time off, holiday pay...and come August I get health insurance, dental insurance, and life insurance. That is the life my friends.
  • Some not so good news: The day before my graduation Jayson had a really bad headache. We figure, eh, it's just a headache and shrugged it off. Then, the day of my graduation he woke up feeling very ill. Being the trooper and sweet guy he is, he decided to still come to my graduation. He was sick for days and didn't seem to be getting better, so he went to the doctor. The unthinkable happened. He was diagnosed with MONO!!!! We have NO idea how he got it or anything. We had never even thought of that as an option. He's all better now, but it sure put a damper on the whole, him finding him a job during the summer thing.
  • More good news: Jayson is better now and got a temporary job with my dad's company for three weeks! However, my dad says that he is pretty sure they'll have enough work to extend his temporary job until he goes back to school. yay!!!
  • This is the first time that both of us have worked full time at the same time during our marriage. Life is good for us. I do miss seeing him during the day like we used to during school, but I can't complain because we've been so blessed to have these full time jobs!
  • And like I said, we've been crazy busy. We've had weddings galore and more to come. That's alright with me though, I love a good wedding. We've seriously never had this many weddings in one summer to attend, and that's saying something. A lot of them are really important weddings too, of cousins and really close friends.
  • Memorial weekend we went to Lake Powell with my dad, Uncle, cousin, dad's friend, and one of my best friends Marni, and her husband. As usual, it was bliss. I simply love that place. The beautiful red rocks, the lake, the sun, the relaxing...sigh. I plan to make an entire post dedicated to Lake Powell. Stay tuned. Plus, we listened to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the ride, which was most enjoyable. Obviously.
  • Jayson's youngest sibling, Jana graduated high school and so did my step sister Chelsie, whoohoo! Congrats girls.:)
And there you have it, a small catch up on our crazy lives.

I Feel Fine Anytime She's Around Me Now...

This is a picture post dedicated to my girls. I've been spending a lot of time with them as of late because some really special and monumental things have happened to us in the past month.

Sarah had her baby on May 12th, a baby boy named Adam. He is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen! She's the first of the Sisterhood to have a baby, so this has been huge and exciting for us.

Cameo reported to the MTC this past Wednesday. It was both a sad and happy day for us. We're going to miss her so much in the next 18 months, but she's going to do such a great job and we're excited for her. She's been looking forward to this for years.

These great events and being with these girls has reminded me how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE them (not that I ever forgot, but you know what I mean). So, I wanted to post some of my very favorite pictures here (SOME. there are SO many that I love!). These girls are the best friends anyone could ever ask for.

Enjoy!

The picture above is PURELY a dedication to Cameo. I found it while I was looking for pictures to pose and I couldn't resist.

So much love.

Who Put the Grad in Grad-iator?

K-rissa Kim!
Please sing the title and then "K-rissa Kim" in the tune of "Zero to Hero" from Hercules.
You probably think that's lame.

I think it's hilarious.

Jayson and Cameo will tell you it's true. I sang it all the way to Logan on Graduation day.

Well everyone...I DID IT!!! I graduated. I now have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Family and Human Development!! I feel so very accomplished. My grades are even posted! Not only did I pass all of last few classes this semester, but I got an A- in all three that I took!

Now, let me tell you the tale of my graduation.
It all started on Wednesday, May 5th. I was my last day of work before graduation and when I came in I found this:

confetti. all over everything!
ta da!!
Working with your mom has many perks. One is that you can be sure that your special events will be known and celebrated at work. My awesome mom came in early to work to do all of this for me, and she even brought my favorite cake that she had made to share with the whole department. Our department even had a potluck that day (not for my graduation, but because it was Cinco de Mayo), which was delicous, and it made the day extra special. Everyone in my department at work (and a couple others) showed me their support by giving me a card stuffed with cash. The people I work with rock.
Then the next day I finished my last final and it felt SOOOO good. Jayson and I went to his parent's to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs with the other Karissa, Jana (the sisters), Daniel (Jayson's best friend), and some other folks. I was not that excited to see this, but let me tell you, it's a GEM of a movie and I recommend it to all. I LOVED it.
Then, Friday that week Jayson and I decided we just wanted to spend the day together, just the two of us. His finals were done too and neither of us had to work. We had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, lounged around and relaxed for a big, walked around temple square to see the gorgeous blossoms on the trees and then went out for a late lunch/early dinner to the Skybox at Gateway. It was so much fun to be able to spend the whole day together, without a care in the world.
Then Saturday was Commencement and graduation. We headed up to Logan, and I'm so glad I did. It was so much fun to see my fellow graduating friends and celebrate this time with them. Plus, my favorite professor is the one who read the names for our college. That made me so happy. However, my favorite part of Commencement by far was that after the speeches were over we all stood up and did the Scottsman. I got tears in my eyes. For those of you who aren't familiar with this, the Scotsman is a song that is widely known at Utah State. It practically IS Utah State (whatever that means.). It's a dance and song cheer type of a thing that is done at pretty much ever sporting event. It's wonderful and a huge part of school spirit at Utah State.

Me, Sarah (Art History), and Katie (English). Love these girls.
I think that this is one of my favorite pictures of us ever. I think it just captures our relationship really well.

Jayson is the best husband I could ever ask for. I don't know how I would have gotten through the last couple of years of school without him. He's been so supportive of me getting my degree. This semester he was especially great. He knew how stressed out I was about making sure I did well in my classes so that I could really graduate. He spent countless hours cleaning our apartment, making dinner, and making me smile when I was bogged down with homework. I love this guy, with my whole heart.

Me and Vienna (Double major in Art History and English). Nennie is one of my dearest friends. We've been waiting years to have a good picture together and we finally got one. There's no better occasion for us to finally get one!

My Grandma Betty and me. When I was little I used to call her when I was having a hard time. She'd tickle my back, read me stories, and cut my fruit just the way I like it. She's wonderful and still supports me in everything I do.

Me and my youngest step sister Shelbie. We're tight. Love her.

Me and my Daddy! My dad is such a support and has always been there for me. I love and adore this man. My dad always wanted me to go to college. I'm glad I got to make your wish come true, Dad. (He also took Jayson and I to Mandirin Garden for lunch after graduation ceremonies. I told you he's the coolest.)

Me and my Mommy! This woman gets thousands of cheers and recognition for helping me to get where I am today. She got me up for school in the morning until I left for college (and trust me people, that is a HUGE chore), she always made sure I was doing my homework, she sent me home with food when I was living in Logan, and so much more. I could make a list that could be a blog post in itself. Most imporantly though, she loved me. She has always helped me out in every possible way she could. I love her so much.

There was a picture on this post of Justie, my dad and I, but it just dissapeared. I really don't want to put it back on right now because then I'll have to drag it from the top of this post, all the way down here. Justie is the best step mom I could ever ask for!! She is one of the most giving people I've ever met and I'm grateful for her generosity and support as well. I don't know what I do without her. Seriously.
And of course, Papa Todd. I don't have any pictures of him at graduation from mine or my mom's camera so I can't post any right now. I'm so grateful for his constant love and concern for me and that he has always treated me like one of his own.
So, there you have it. GRADUATION!!

DONE!!!

I JUST FINISHED MY LAST FINAL! WOOHOO!

In celebration I wanted to post this little ditty.

I seriously listen to this and dance around to it EVERY finals week, at least once.

Enjoy!
